On the basis of the theory of vocabulary system and based on the completedmodern Chinese corpus, the thesis focuses on the key word of "qian"(前). In order toinvestigate its structural characteristics and system attributes, the study gives anoverall description and analysis on "qian+X" by combining form and meaning.Additional, on the basic research of synchronic aspect, while upholding the principleof the combination of synchronic and diachronic, the thesis trackes back to the historyof each phrase to gain a deeper understanding of the characteristics on "qian+x"phrase in the whole Chinese system.This thesis contains3parts: prolegomenon, main text and conclusion, of4chapters in all. The1stchapter is the prolegomenon, which asserts the rational for theresearch question and describes the research situation briefly, also the methodology,language materials and data resources. Meanwhile, it points out the significance andpurpose of the study. The following two chapters is synchronic and the diachronicresearch. The "qian+X" phrase in this part is divided into three periods:1919-1948,1949-1978,1979-2010, and aimes at describing the structural characteristics, thecollocation and the symmetry. Bases on the synchronic study, the historical tracingabout "qian+X" is to study on the usage situation of the structure in the ancientChinese. The last part makes a conclusion with the theoretical value of this research.The significance of this study is having a clear understanding of structuralcharacteristics and system attributes on "qian+X". And to point out the practical valueof this research, which lays the foundation for the Chinese vocabulary teaching anddictionary compiling.
