As is known to all,there are many disabled babies born in our country.Nowadays,with the development of medical practice,many disabled newborns have been recovered,and a lot of laws are issued to protect them,but the ethical discussion about the severely disabled newborns has not been stopped,and their clinical problems have been attracting the attention of people from all walks of life.Deontology and the theory of divine life always insist that all the life should be respect,we can't give up any life though the disability is too severe.While the theories on the quality of life and on the value of life which are basis for utilitarianism,claim that we should calculate the utilities of life,so that some treatments of life can be abandoned.This article will analyze the reasons of support or give up the treatment of life,figure out the theoretical defects of both theories,and indicate that give up some treatments of severely disabled newborns is more in line with the medical reality.On the basis of this,the article will has a deep discussion around the problem of which standard we can follow to give up the treatment of severely disabled newborns,and try to come up with a more ethical and practice standard by examining the prevalent standards.
