Tureduregusa was created by Yoshida Kenko during the Kamakura Shogunate of Japan.This essays,Sei Shonagon's The Pillow Book and Kamo no Ch?mei's H?j?ki are known as“Three Classic Essays”in ancient history of Japan.Japan continuously suffered from wars and the people found it hard to live on during the middle ages.Many people in Japan,from the noble to the civilians,were affected by the meditation on impermanence.Accordingly,many works regarding the meditation on impermanence were created.Tureduregusa can be regarded as the representative of literature with the theme of meditation on impermanence during the middle ages in Japan.Tureduregusa is divided into two volumes,including 243 sections.The diverse topics cover the aspects of life,anecdote,philosophy,art,ancient motto,joke and historical research.Yoshida Kenko studied and mixed many viewpoints from Confucianism,Buddhism,Taoism and local Shintoism then took into account the experience and inspiration from life,which also made Tureduregusa as “The Analects of Confucius in Japan”.This paper is divided into five parts.Part I includes the research purpose,significance and range.Part II discusses the life situation of Yoshida Kenko and the historical background for the creation of Tureduregusa,trying to understand the reason how the author formed the unique meditation on impermanence from the perspective of historical background.Part III further discusses the relationship between Japanese people and Buddhism ' s meditation on impermanence and study the meditation on impermanence held by Japanese people.Part IV comes to the point to analyze the positivity and the connection between the impermanence and temporal cognition according to the contents regarding the meditation on impermanence in Tureduregusa.By comparing it with the meditation on impermanence in Ch?mei's H?j?ki,it further analyzes thecharacteristics of Yoshida Kenko's meditation on impermanence.Furthermore,the criticism by Yoshida Kenko on the traditional aesthetics of Japan also has the profound impact on the creation of later literature creation,the continuation and development of aesthetics.Part V is the conclusion and summary to discuss the shortages and the further development direction.This paper intends to study the creation background and the positivity of meditation on impermanence and discuss the the related peripheral works of Tureduregusa,as well as the viewpoints of well-known scholars for the support or supplementation,in order to enhance the credibility of this paper.
