The semantic relations between verbs and objects are complex and diverse.The boundary of the verb-object phrase and the verb-object compound is also blurred and often entangled.All of these not only increase the difficulty of the study,but also provide a wider research space to us.This paper was written for the comparison between verb-locative compound and verb-locative phrase.We did the similarities judgement through studying several aspects,such as the semantic structure,analogical extension and the semantic features of 'V'.In addition,the morphemes and construction modes of the verb-locative compound are also referred to in the paper.Chapter 1 is the introduction.It explains the purpose and background of study and states relevant methods as well as the sources of the examples.Chapter 2 discusses the classification of verbs and locative disposed by verbs,on this basis,we set up frames of verb-locative structure.Chapter 3 mainly compared the similarities and differences of verb-locative compound and verb-locative phrase through analyzing the semantic features of 'V'.The features of 'V'in verb-locative compound present low action and intransitivity.Meantime,we investigated the analogy of the phrases and the compounds that are combined with the same verbs and realized there are still some differences between phrase and compound.Chapter 4 reveals about the generative mechanism on meaning of verb-locative compound.We supposed that verb-locative compound can be divided into three species:direct generating,semi-direct generating and non-direct generating.And we develop a standard for identification for verb-locative compound.Chapter 5 is the summarization.It generalizes main conclusions of the paper and points out the deficiencies.
