The Research Of Hu Shih And Fu Si-nian's Drama Improvement Ideas-with Other Reformers' Theory On <New Youth> In 1918

The period of the "May Fourth Movement" has always been one of the focuses in the study of modern Chinese drama reform movement.During the period,the reformers have their understanding of the slogan of "drama improvement," and have different attitudes.They called for the reform movement in different ways,and all schools of thoughts contend for attention.Among these dramatic reformers,many people have the experience of studying abroad,so that their reformist thinking more or less reflect the influence of Western political and cultural thought.,I believe that to understand this period of Chinese drama reform Situation;it is necessary to understand those reformers during this period of improvement,as well as their motivation and improvement of thought forming the process.Chen Duxiu,a revolutionary thinker who has been studied in Japan,has set up a Progressive Publications——the "New Youth".Hu Shih,who has returned to China from the United States,has published the famous article——the "Literature Improvement," which opened the curtain of the drama reform movement in this period.Hu Shi's new ideas accepted by Fu Si-nian,who were a leader student at Peking University,then,he established his concept of drama improvement.They discuss with other scholars and thinkers on The "New Youngth," promote the whole movement at 1918.This paper first analyzes the three stages of the modern Chinese drama reform movement.Secondly,through the analysis of the formation,development,and change of Hu Shi and Fu Si-nian's improvement thoughts,the author compares the three trajectories after the clarification of their respective trajectories.Finally,this paper will try to analyze each idea of Chen Duxiu,Qian Xuantong and Zhou Zuoren on the drama improvement of "New Youth" in 1918,as the response to Hu Shi and Fu Si-nian 's ideology.In one word,re-study the ideas of Hu Shi,Fu Si-nian and other reformers in the "May Fourth Movement " period,not only contribute to evaluating the movement more objective and justly,but also give today's drama theory researchers a great inspiration.
