The Qing Dynasty In Khovd City Traffic Road And The Business Of

Located to the west of Uliyastai in Mongolia,Khovd was neighboring with TangnuUrianhai in north east,reaching to Jasakt khan to the south,bordering on Xinjiang to south west and had a common boundary with Russia.Khovd was an important military base of Qing Dynasty in north western region and a center for north western traffic network.The establishment and development of Khovd and its impacts on traditional commercial line setup,its political and economical role and status for international relations should be re-estimated.Precedent studies to the traffic lines and commercial lines in Mongolia and their historical shift are relatively thin.In his thesis we discovered and used some archival materials to examine the traffic network around Khovd,including traffic lines to Russia,Xinjiang and Hohhot.The thesis consist of introduction,main text and conclusion plus appendix.In the introduction,we explained the reason of selecting this topic,accounted material preparation and research background.In the first section of the main text,we accounted historical background of development of Khovd traffic network,analyzed the geographical scope under Khovd administration during Qing Dynasty,and argued questions such as completion time of Khovd city,dispatch of KhovdAmban,administrative system of the city and or so.In the second section,we accounted the historical course of the setting of postal system in Khovd.This was a hot topic of research.We in this time made use of precedent research accomplishments and discussed on the postal line to Xinjiang and the line to Chenghausi and their mileages.The third section is the most important and nuclear part of this thesis,which focus on the development of Khovd centered commercial lines.Khovd was built as a military base in westernregion of Mongolia in the beginning,but then,because of consolidation of Qing control and activity of Chinese merchants in Mongolia,it developed into a commercial center and a important station for Russo-Qing connection.In the thesis,we discussed the city establishment in Khovd,its functional extension,commercial lines to the inland and to Russia,and in conclusion,we comprehensively talked about commercial development in Khovd city.In the fourth section,we explored the question of postal establishment in Khovd.It was relatively late to establish modern postal system in Khovd,but it was a vital topic in the studies of Khovd traffic and communication system.At last,we concluded the accomplishments done by this time research.
