A Study On Interactive Language Teaching In College English Cooperative Writing

As an output language skill,writing can not only enable learners to use language,but also reflect learners' language level.Therefore,writing plays an important role in English teaching field.However,traditional teacher-centered English teaching usually stresses more writing results than writing process,while Interactive Language Teaching,which pays attention to interaction and cooperation in class,provides more research directions for English writing teaching.Applying Interactive Language Teaching in college English writing and using Cooperative Learning,this study aims to explore the effect of Interactive Language Teaching on college English writing.This study reviews previous studies of Interactive Language Teaching and puts forward three research questions:(1)What is the current situation of college English writing class?(2)After Interactive Language Teaching being applied to college English cooperative writing,what changes do students have in their interests in writing,feelings about writing and relationships among students?(3)What effect does Interactive Language Teaching have on college students' English writing performance?In this study,the researcher selects 83 non-English major freshmen from two natural intact classes of Shenyang Normal University at random,with 37 students in one class as EC and 46 students in the other class as CC to conduct a semester's experimental research.All the participants share similar English learning experience and sex ratio.The instruments of the study are questionnaires and tests.In the process of the study,students in EC are taught with the new teaching approach which is instructed by Interactive Language Teaching and Cooperative Learning,while students in CC are taught with the traditional Product Approach.All the data,including the data of the questionnaires and the data of English writing tests between EC and CC before and after the experiment are collected and analyzed with SPSS 19.0 in time.The results show that:(1)College English writing class lacks interaction to some extent.(2)After Interactive Language Teaching being applied to college English cooperative writing,students achieve improvements in their interests in writing,their feelings about writing and the relationship among students.(3)Interactive Language Teaching helps to improve college students' English writing performance.At the end of the study,the researcher points out the implications for application of Interactive Language Teaching in college English cooperative writing,the limitations of the study and the recommendations for future research.
