Flipped Classroom Teaching Model(FCTM),as a brand new attempt of combining information technology with classroom teaching, has lifted a revolutionary wave in the global education since Jonathan Bergman and Aaron Sams from Woodland Park High School in Colorado in the USA applied it in their classes. The Flipped Classroom(FC)is a classroom that inverts the arrangement of knowledge imparting and knowledge internalization in the traditional classroom. In FC,the roles of teachers and students have been changed and the class time should have a new plan, which swaps the traditional one.Compared with the researches about it abroad, most researches focus on the theories or some applied researches on some primary and high schools in China after reading a number of lecture, while there is few researches on language teaching, especially on college English teaching, which is still at the tentative stage. As the teaching innovation constantly goes deeper and deeper as well as the education informationization develops more and more rapidly, the teaching reform in college English listening and speaking teaching(CELST)has attracted more and more researchers and educators. The application of FCTM in CELST based on the Longman English Interactive(LEI)teaching platform provides more thoughts and inspirations for English teaching reform.Based on Constructive Learning Theory and the LEI teaching platform, this thesis combines quantitative research methods with qualitative methods to construct a new teaching model so as to answer the following three questions:(1)Compared with the traditional teaching model, what characteristics does the Flipped Classroom teaching model on LEI have?(2)How is the application effect of theFlipped Classroom teaching model on LEI in college English listening and speaking teaching?(3)What are the feedback from the teacher and students toward the Flipped Classroom teaching model on LEI in college English listening and speaking lesson? This research selects two classes(80 sophomores)with a similar sex ratio as the participants from art major in Shenyang Normal University(SUN).According to the result of the pre-tests,they are basically in the same level in listening and speaking. And one of them is chosen randomly as EC(the experimental class),the other is CC(the controlled class).During the process of the experiment, the students in EC receive FCTM in their listening and speaking lesson, while those in CC still accept the traditional teaching model(TTM).After a semester experiment, the collected data will be typed into computer and be analyzed by SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Sciences)19.0.According to the data analysis of tests, classroom observation and interviews, the major findings can be found as follows:(1)The flipped classroom teaching model on LEI changes the roles of the teacher and students;it resets the traditional teaching structure;it optimizes the teaching deign;it promotes the teaching evaluation.(2)The application of the flipped classroom teaching model on LEI is helpful for increasing students' listening and speaking performance, arousing students' English learning interest;cultivating students' self-learning awareness and promoting the relationship between the teacher and students.(3)The teacher and students provide relatively positive attitudes toward the application of the flipped classroom teaching model on LEI in college English listening and speaking teaching, and they also express that they are willing to adopt it in future English teaching and learning. In the end, this thesis summarizes some limitations in the research and provides some suggestions for the further instruction and research on FCTM.
