A Study Of Subtitle Translation Strategies Based On The Features Of Subtitle Translation

This thesis gives further analysis to the E-C subtitle translation of Umass Nutrition Project in Massachusetts of United States through a comparison between two versions——offered.It further explores the strategies of subtitle translation from the purpose and popularity of subtitle translation,time and space’s restriction,and subtitle matching with pictures.This thesis points out that in consideration of the features of subtitle translation,the work must also conform to the acceptability of the audience,thus,the application of simple and concise language in translation preferred.Only in this way,the translator can translate popular works.This article is divided into four parts;the first part introduces the research background,research purpose,research meaning,translation works,research methods and thesis structure.The second part introduces subtitle translation and provides a research overview of this respect.The third part focuses on the two versions of subtitle translation,under the guidance of corresponding translation strategies.The fourth part is the conclusion.
