With the national economic development and the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiatives,China has made a huge progress on international trade.As one of the official language in UN,English is used very often in daily international trade.As a result,China now has a huge demand in English interpreting,especially the consecutive interpreting.Based on this background,this paper chooses the original documentary Silk Road · New Journey by CCTV Documentary Channel as the interpreting material.This documentary describes geographical features,social economy,local conditions and customs in continents of Europe and Asia along the Silk Road so that people could learn more latest developing ideas under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiatives.This practice report not only conforms to the national economy developing strategy,but also making a great contribution to the overseas promotions and other interpreting jobs on the theme of the Belt and Road Initiatives.This paper discusses from the aspect of short-term memory,which is a very important part in in consecutive interpreting.No matter in input phase or out out phase,the ability of short-term memory will influence the interpreting directly.According this paper,it finds out the short-term memory has a great influence in interpreting activity.So strengthening the training of short-term memory is the key in consecutive interpreting.In concluding,after the stimulated consecutive interpreting and analyzing,there are 3 factors influencing the short-term memory:the bad memory of origin sentences,lacking of professional vocabulary,the issue of catching the keywords.Considering these factors,this paper gives 3 different solutions to strengthen the short-term memory by strengthening the structure of sentence,widening knowledge and improving the ability of note-taking.
