There is no doubt that Yang Lian is a extremely individual and representative poet in Chinese contemporary poetic circle.His poetic creation began in the last century at the end of 70 s.He composed a huge number of poems.Not only does he insist on writing poems after going abroad but also he still attends the international literature and art activities,which makes him be regarded as the most representative Chinese sound in international poetic circle.His vigorous vitality of poetic creation is very invaluable.In addition,he also focuses on prose writing literary criticism and makes a useful attempt to establish a theoretical system of personal poetics.Therefore,Yang Lian's creation and poetic thought should receive the researchful attention of domestic academic circle.Though since the 1980 s the research literature aboout Yang Lian and his poetic creation has formed a certain scale,it is still too scattered and the research of analysis and discussion on Yang Lian's a great number of overseas poems is very few.The research perspective of this thesis will focus on the rich achievements of Yang Lian's overseas poetry creation.This thesis tries to base on the theory frame of poetry writing and combines a variety of research methods to study Yang Lian's writing techniques of overseas poetry,finally exploring the artistic value of his poetry writing.The thesis is mainly divided into the following three parts:Chapter one focuses on the narration of Yang Lian's overseas poetry.The theoretical analysis from the academic circle about the poetic“narration” in the 90 s of the last century provides a theoretical support for the narrative study of Yang Lian's overseas poetry.When applying the narrative strategies,such as the fragmented processing,the calm narration,the comprehensive use of the narrative elements and so on,his overseas poetry still has the persistence and the exploration for the narrative tradition and the deep narration of Chinese poetry.The transformation and the absence of the narrator are frequently appeared in his poetry,which create the possibility of varied meaning for his poetry.Chapter two discusses the language features of Yang Lian's overseas poetry in detail.The exotic context makes the poet have a strong sense of identity of the mother tongue.Through the discovery of the charm of Chinese characters and the flexible use of Chinese grammar as well as the intertextuality processing of Chinese literature classics,the language of Yang Lian's overseas poetry shows a strong “Chinese” color.The musicality of the poetic language is expressed by the poet's earnest grasp and adjustment of the rhythm and cadence.The jumping of the poetic language and the setting of the metaphors as well as the personal experiences make his poetic language obscure and meaningful,which bring implicit and strange aesthetic effect.Chapter three explores the construction of poetic images in YangLian's overseas poems.The theme and emotion of Yang Lian's overseas poetry are enriched and deepened by his selection of different types of images and his varied combination forms of images.Among them,the three typical images,“dark”,“sea” and “ghost”,contain the most real experiences in Yang Lian's life,which are frequently appeared in a large number of his poems.On the basis of the detailed investigation of the poetic images and the construction of the image space,the chapter tries to explore Yang Lian's poetic pursuit and artistic value of establishing the“concentric circle” which is the ultimate program of poetry and life.
