A study boom on machine translation has been set off in recent years at home and abroad. But this study boom is mainly focused on techniques designed to improve the quality of machine translations to be used directly for user reading. However, due to current technical limitations, such machine translation systems fail to achieve expected translation quality. Therefore, machine translation and human translators are both required to produce translations whose quality can be compared with that of human translations.Hence a new translation mode: post-editing is generated, where human translators work together with machine translations.Such sort of work mode needs a specific translation system, namely a machine translation system for human translators. However, domestic research on this aspect is still very rare. Thus translating such kind of articles is of much practical significance, providing reference for domestic machine translation studies. The original material of this translation task is taken from the first chapter of Machine Translation for Human Translators,an important work written by machine translation expert Michael Denkowski. It mainly introduces the current situation of machine translation research, machine translation system for post-translation editing, and its experimental framework. This report consists of four parts: the first part is task description, presenting a brief introduction to this material and its author;the second part is translation process, including preparation for translation, difficulties in translation and translation review;the third part is case analysis where syntactic structures of typical cases are analyzed and specific translation skills are described;the last part is a summary, explaining what has been learned in this translation practice,.
