Susanne Langer was well-recognized aesthetician in twentieth century and few female philosopher in history of philosophy.She learned from Ernst Cassirer and inherited Ernst Cassirer ‘s Semiotics theories so that she considered art as creation of symbol of human emotion,regarded emotion as embodiment of life and art as emotional needs,it is because art embodied emotion that art was characterized by implication of life.This text is divided into six parts.Introduction mainly explains important emotional significance in Susanne K.Langer ‘s philosophy of art and current situation of her philosophy of art to further explain purpose and significance of research in this paper.Second part starts from aesthetic situation in era Susanne K.Langer lived in to admire Bale’s aesthetic deliberation through exploring Bale’s aesthetic topic with significant form and consider Susanne K.Langer ‘s philosophy as meditation and improvement of Bale’s aesthetic dilemma through existing problems.Then Susanne K.Langer‘s philosophy of art is investigate based on emotion.Third part could be that Susanne K.Langer distinguished artistic work from expressive form and Bale’s significant form.Artistic work mainly delivers such contents as life form which is presented by emotions.Emotion is universal so as to be delivered.Artistic symbol in fourth part showcases emotion through instinct.Fifth part is mainly that theories of deliverable emotion relies on foundation of homogeneous essence of different expressive forms of internal emotion and external art.Expressive form is artistic illusion rather than objective materials in usually meaning,because it showcases emotion.Sixth part is brief summary.It follows that emotional investigation is the main hint for Susanne K.Langer ‘s philosophy of art which epitomized the aesthetic thoughts so as to firstly solve prime problem of combining expressive form and significant form based on this starting point of emotion.Through exploring emotional meaning,investigation of emotional expressive form and explanation of deliverable emotion could be used to understand Susanne K.Langer ‘s philosophy of art.
