A Study On The Noun Classifiers In Discourses On Salt And Iron

Classifier is one of the main features of Chinese compared to other languages,it is also one of the key points in the study of grammar.Discourse of Salt and Iron is a political comment writings compiled by Huan Kuan in the Western Han Dynasty through the famous “the Salt and Iron”meeting.From the perspective of language,Discourse of Salt and Iron is close to spoken language,and vocabulary is rich,so it is the precious language material to study Chinese quantifiers.In this paper,we take the Noun quantifiers in Discourse of Salt and Iron as the research object,use the research methods of combining synchronic and diachronic analysis,makes a comprehensive and systematic multi angle research of the Noun quantifiers.We study quantifiers from the view of the history of Chinese quantifiers,determine the status and value of Noun quantifiers in Discourse of Salt and Iron,and strive to fill the part blank book of quantifiers,can provide a data for the cohort study of ancient Chinese quantifiers.The full text is divided into three chapters.In the introduction part,we briefly introduce the research background,research significance and the research methods,value,as well as the the quantifier naming,definition and classification of the Noun quantifiers in Discourse of Salt and Iron.The first chapter is the classification research of Discourse of Salt and Iron in the name of Noun quantifiers.There are 43 quantifiers in Discourse of Salt and Iron,they are divided into five part:individual classifiers,collective classifiers,measure classifiers,container classifier and time classifiers.There are 11 individual classifiers in Discourse of Salt and Iron,take a percentage of 25.58% of total quantity,appear 66 times,the frequency is 28.33%;6 collective classifiers,take a percentage of 13.95% of total quantity,appear 30 times,the frequency is 12.87%;12 measure classifiers,take a percentage of 27.91% of total quantity,appear 75 times,the frequency is 32.19%;4 container classifier,take a percentage of 9.3% of total quantity,appear 4 times,the frequency is 1.72%;10 time classifiers,take a percentage of 23.26% of total quantity,appear 58 times,the frequency is 24.89%.The second chapter is the research of combination rules and grammatical functions of noun quantifiers in Discourse of Salt and Iron.The content is divided into two sections,the first section study the combination of Noun quantifiers,we make concrete analysis of the single use with Noun,Noun quantifiers with Numeral,noun quantifiers with Noun and Numeral.The second section study the function of grammar.We discuss it include 2 parts:firstly,the syntactic component of a single noun classifier in a sentence;secondly,the Noun classifier and Noun are combined into a number phrase to act as syntactic components.The third chapter we take part of the Noun quantifiers in Discourse of Salt and Iron to make diachronic study,for example :“Pian”(片),“Kou”(口),“Ceng”(层),“Jie”(节),“Zhi”(枝),“Mian”(面).
