As a genre of literature, political novel doesn't possess a long history. It first emerged in the 19 th century in Britain and then was introduced into Japan by Oda Junichiro.Among which,Strange Encounters with Beautiful Women,Warning Heartwarming Story, and Plum Blossoms in Snow were representatives of political novels at that time and all of them were translated into Chinese by Liang Qichao at the end of 19 th century. The Future of New China, which was written by Liang Qichao, was the first political novel created by Chinese people in the literary history of China. The novel is developed in a reverse way and mainly depicts the eloquent debate between the Reformist Huang Keqiang and the Revolutionist Li Qubing. This debate contains as many as forty-four paragraphs and includes the basic gist of the debate upon the question of “Which way China should go and where to go” at the beginning of 20 th century in China. This thesis tries to analyze the acceptance and transfiguration of Japanese political novel in Liang's The Future of New China(take Strange Encounters with Beautiful Women,Warning Heartwarming Story and Plum Blossoms in Snow as samples)and elaborates in the following parts:The first chapter introduces the emergence, development, prospering and declining time of Chinese and Japanese political novels as well as the famous pieces. The author mainly uses influence study method to analyze the sources and relations of these two countries' political novels and explores their widely influence and profound meaning upon the society, politics and literature of China at that time. The second chapter analyzes how Liang's creation of The Future of New China learns and absorbs Japanese political novels from the perspective of narrative time and technique of the novel and clarifies the profound relations between Japanese and Chinese political novels. The third chapter, employing the studying methods of Crenology and reception research and based on concrete textual analyzes, combes heterogenicity between these two countries' political novel in the plots, language style and characterization of Liang's The Future of New China. And then the author explores how Liang's The Future of New China transfigured Japanese political novels based on the knowledge of the social, political, cultural and literary conditions of China at that time, and how Liang reappears the tough process of Chinese modernization which was once pushed forward by Chinese intellectuals. The fourth chapter elaborates the reasons of acceptance and transfiguration of Japanese political novels in Liang's The Future of New China. The reasons of acceptance will been discussed in three aspects, which refer to the similar national conditions, the functions of Political Novel and the personal choice of Liang Qichao. The discussion of transfiguration mainly focuses on the differences of national conditions, national character and reading object.Through analyzing the relations between Liang's The Future of New China and Japanese political novels Strange Encounters with Beautiful Women,Warning Heartwarming Story and Plum Blossoms in Snow,we can know more clearly that in the fields of literature and culture the mode of “Japan learns form China” which lasted for two thousand years has transmitted to the mode of “China learns from Japan” in the turn of last century, and see the acceptance and transfiguration of Japanese literature and culture and how does China begin the process of modernization. In addition, this thesis also looks forward to diversifying the studying perspectives and enrich the studying materials of Liang's The Future of New China, and hopes to provide some possibilities and new materials to the Chinese-Japanese comparative literature. But due to age and the lack of documentation, this thesis exists some shortcomings, and it only serves as reference for other researchers.
