The Translation Report On Two Stories Of Alice Munro: Dulse And Prue

This translation report chooses the two stories Dulse and Prue from the Canadian female writer Alice Munro's short story collection The Moons of the Jupiter as the analysis material.The first story relates that the heroine meets a series of trivial things and encounters some interesting persons during a journey.The second story narrates what happens during a dinner between the heroine and her lover.The story written by Munro usually happens in some small towns.With a cool expression and accurate description about trifles in life,the story presents the bitterness,helplessness and hypocrisy of life.This translation report consists of four parts,namely,the introduction of translation task,the description of translation process,the analysis of translation cases and the summary of translation practice.The first part briefly introduces the background and the significance of the translation task.The second part fully describes the preparation and process of the translation.The third part which is the most important one,analyzes some cases including free translation of words,translation of long sentences and so on.Guided by functional equivalence theory,the translator applies some basic translation strategies to finish this work.The fourth part summarizes some problems in the process of translation and makes prospect for my future study.This report is written based on practice.By reviewing the translation process,sorting out the problems encountered during the translation and summarizing experience,my translation ability is improved.By the analysis of the translation process,I can learn how to resolve the problems in the process of translating.
