| City left-behind children are those who are separated with their parents or one of them and left alone at home for a long time in the movement of the urban population.Survey data shows that in recent years,the emergence of them in the cities has not drawn much attention.This study attempts to analyze the status of cities’ left-behind children and provide reality reference for their education in mental health by a questionnaire and interviews conducted in the students of 4-6 grades of two primary schools in Chengdu.This study indicates that:There exists significant difference between city left-behind and un-left-behind children in mental health,and the latter is better than that of the former in learning anxiety degree,tendency of loneliness,irritability and fear,physical performance as well as total score.There also exists remarkable difference in mental health between those who live with one of parents and those with others than parents,and the former is better than that of the latter in learning anxiety degree,tendency of loneliness,irritability and fear,physical performance as well as total score.The 5th grade students are higher than the 4th,6th in learning anxiety and fear tendency and there is no difference among the 4th,5th and 6th grade students in other indexes.Obvious difference also exists in different genders in loneliness tendency among and female left-behind children are higher than boys in the degree.The length of being left behind has influence upon their mental health as well.Those who are left behind for 1 year or above are higher than those for a semester(about 3-5 months)or about 6-11 months in anxiety of learning and communication,tendency of irritability and fear,physical performance as well as total score.The result of interviews has proved the data analysis.Eventually,based on the research,this study aims at put forward suggestions to families,schools as well as our society in order to improve the status of left-behind children and mental health. |
