The source text of this translation report is from Hickey's The Pragmatics of Translation(chapter nine and thirteen)which mainly explores how to keep the pragmatic meaning in the text translation.Because of the different ways of expression and grammatical systems in English and Chinese, the cohesion mechanisms are quite different. Therefore,it is worth further discussing how to clarify language components and realize cohesion in texts.Under the guidance of textual cohesion theory, the author summarizes the specific problems encountered in the process of translation practice and analyzes a plenty of cases as well as puts forward some translation strategies and methods. The author wishes to provide some suggestions for the future translation practice. This translation report mainly includes five parts: brief introduction of the translation project, translation process, the textual cohesion theory, cases study and conclusion. The author of this report mainly adopts grammatical cohesion of Halliday and Hasan's textual cohesion theory as the guidance to analyze the cases in detail. At last, the author discusses some major findings and limitations of this report.
