The Grammaticalization Of “Xiang(?)” And Its Related Problems

“Xiang(?)”is one of the most frequently used words in modern Chinese,its original meaning is “thinking”.In the long process of language evolution,“xiang(?)”has evolved multiple meanings.In addition,words and structure composed of “xiang(?)” gradually developed as semantic falsified of “xiang(?)”,and in such aspects as promoting discourse cohesion and coherence plays an important role.Its complexity of the meaning and function has caused wide attention by scholars,and has studied from various angles.Based on the comprehensive investigation on the basis of predecessors' research results,the combination of form and meaning,synchronic description and diachronic explain the method of combining the phenomenon of grammaticalization of “xiang(?)” related problems to conduct a comprehensive carding and careful analysis,sum up the “xiang(?)” grammaticalization path trajectory,and under the guidance of grammaticalization theory,further clarify the the cause and mechanism of grammaticalization.This paper is divided into five parts:The first chapter introduces the relevant research results of the present stage of grammar theory,the research status of “xiang(?)”and grammaticalization research significance,the methods and the corpus source.In the second chapter,the results of “xiang(?)” are studied from the synchronic plane of modern Chinese,then describe and analysis the meaning of “xiang(?)” and words and structures composed of “xiang(?)” in terms of syntax and semantics.The third chapter makes a diachronic study of the phenomenon of “xiang(?)”,including the semantic evolution of “xiang(?)”,words composed of “xiang(?)”,discourse markers,and the syntactic position,subjective,re analysis discusses the motivation and mechanism of grammaticalization of “xiang(?)”.The fourth chapter analyzes the characteristics and pragmatic functions of the discourse marker of"woxiang(??)"and"nixiang(??)".The fifth part is the conclusion of this paper,the full text summarized,and put forward some further attention.
