A Report On The Translation Of A Comparative Analysis Of Higher Education Systems(chapter 9)

The SL text analyzes the higher education systems of seven countries,giving a full picture of the higher education systems of countries concerned,and the measures and initiatives taken by governments in response to challenges faced.This book is a good reference for Chinese educators,higher education researchers and officials.Chapter 9 is selected as the source language(SL)text of this translation project.This chapter introduces the higher education systems in Russia,and a series of initiatives taken by the government to revive its tertiary education.Based on the translation practice of A Comparative Analysis of Higher Education Systems edited by Michael Kariwo,Tatiana Gounko and Musembi Nungu,this report reviews the whole process of the project in the hope of gaining some insights into the laws and rules of translation.This report consists of five parts: the first part introduces the background,significance and structure of the translation project;the second part is an introduction to the author and an analysis of the source text;the third part details the theory the translator adopted to guide her practices;the fourth chapter reviews the difficulties and methods adopted under the guidance of skopos theory to overcome the difficulties;the fifth part is a conclusion of the report including what the translator has learned from the translation and problems need to be handled in the future.
