The source text(ST)is part of Chapter Four of Game Localization: Translation for the Global Digital Entertainment Industry written by Minako O'Hagan and Carmen Mangiron,famous professors respectively from Dublin City University and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.Translation and localization issues have always been peripheral to game-related topics and in China there are few books involving game localization,let alone a monograph introducing game localization in the context of translation studies.The two authors are both experts in multimedia localization,and have published many related books and papers.If successfully translated,this book can not only impart information to game developers,publishers,theorist,gamers,but also enlighten this industry a lot.As a reference work,it includes plenty of technical terms and is beset with long complex sentences.In the meanwhile,it generally adopts formal words which are full of logic.Under the guidance of text types and communicative translation,the translator finished the translation with translation skills,such as adopting the established translations and literal translation for technical terms,division,restructuring,conversion,negation,word division and so on.The whole translation report contains five parts: Part 1 gives a brief introduction to the project.Part 2 runs to the analysis of ST.Part 3 refers to translation theories.Part 4,the most important one,analyzes difficulties in translation of the ST and corresponding solutions.And Part 5 draws a conclusion.
