A Practice Report On The Consecutive Interpreting Of An Interview About �What Internet Brings To Our Daily Life�

As the Internet spreads,every aspect of life is connected with it.The Internet has brought great changes to all walks of life such as shopping,catering and so on.Globally,both China and America are leaders in the Internet economic era,but there are big differences between the two countries in the Internet industry.America is way ahead in most important aspects of industrialization,informationization and urbanization.Chinese College students are very interested in the Internet and eager to know more about the development of the cyber world in America.The material of this thesis comes from an interview named �What the Internet brings to us in our daily life?�.The foreign teacher of College of Foreign Languages of Jilin University,is the interviewee of this interview.The audience are graduate students of Jilin University,who are interested in this topic.The author acts as the interpreter of this interview about �What internet brings to our daily life�.The objective of this interview is to let the students know more about the difference of the Internet between China and America and ask questions which they are interested in.This thesis is divided into three chapters: Task background and task requirements are included in Chapter 1.Chapter 2 gives a detailed description of preparation before interpreting and executive process while interpreting.Problems in the practice and countermeasures are proposed by the author after careful analysis in Chapter 3.Three problems including improper pauses,misinterpreting and loss of information are found according to the onsite interpreting.The author proposed some countermeasures for these problems which include improvement of information processing ability,multi task processing ability,bilingual competence,short term memory and note-taking ability,,.This onsite consecutive interpreting tested the author?s level of interpreting.This practice gave the author an opportunity to understand consecutive interpreting and recognize differences between the development of the Internet both in China and America.Those problems were met in the real site of consecutive interpreting.It is hoped that this article will inspire and help other MTI students.
