| Bashu culture,as an important branch of Chinese culture,is of great significance for the formation of brilliant Chinese culture. This report is based on the version of C-E translation of Allusions Originating from Sichuan to discuss the translation of Chinese historical stories.Allusions Originating from Sichuan introduces stories and legends about Sichuan and shows the prosperity of Chinese civilization. With the increasingly fierce competition among countries,China has attached great importance to the development of cultural soft power. To translate Allusions Originating from Sichuan conforms to the policy of “Chinese Culture’s Going Out”,which has a profound effect on improving the competitive power of Chinese culture and prompting China’s culture exchanges with the world. In the process of translation, there are a large number of Chinese appellation words,Chinese four-character phrases, names of Chinese classics and long sentences, which add the difficulty to the translation.According to these characteristics,by consulting some relevant literature information, the translator tries to analyze these problems and summarize some feasible translation methods on the basis of Eugene A.Nida’s functional equivalence theory. The translator thinks that some translation methods including literal translation, liberal translation, literal translation plus liberal translation, transliteration and omission can be flexibly used to deal with translation from lexical level so as to make the connotation of Chinese allusion stories better understood. While,as to the translation of sentences, linear translation, combination and comprehensive method can be employed to cope with different conditions so as to make the version conform to the expression of the target language and can be easily accepted by foreign readers. The translator hopes to provide valuable reference for the translation of Chinese historical stories by this translation report so as to spread Bashu culture and highlight Chinese civilization. |
