This is a project on translation of Yes please,an autobiography written by Amy Poehler,a famous American comedian. In this book, the author recalls her childhood full of fantasies, her various acting experiences and so on.In addition, the author gives her opinions on certain common topics such as marriage, sex, child care and work to show her attitude towards life. The translator selects four chapters of the second part as translation materials. In this part, the author introduces her working experiences at Saturday Night Live, her childhood and her view on full time childcare. This book with humorous language is beneficial for the readers to know the American comedy industry and widen their different ways of thinking on the same topic. From the perspective of translation, the wide use of terms and slangs helps the translator strengthen professional knowledge and thus improve her translation level.Main problems in the process of translation are as follows:how to translate the terms and slangs accurately;how to translate the short sentences properly to make the readers enter the author's inner world and share the same feelings and how to guide readers to understand the American culture correctly.Based on the Functional Equivalence Theory established by Eugene A.Nida, the translator uses some specific translation methods, such as addition, conversion and sentence integration to overcome the difficulties in the project and-achieve a proper translation.Through the translation practice, the translator benefits a lot.The Functional Equivalence Theory established by Eugene A.Nida is used to guide this translation. It proves that this theory has great significance in autobiography literature translation. That is to say,we are not supposed to just pursue the form equivalence at the cost of the original meaning.Under this principle, the translator tries to keep the original form, but when the form contradicts with the original meaning, the latter is firstly considered. In addition,it is very necessary for translator to have basic professional quality and careful working attitude. In the future study, the translator is determined to read more books with the aim of broadening the horizons and do more practices to improve the translation level.
