In the context of economic globalization, the translation of financial texts is of great significance to international financial activities, financial academic exchanges and national financial development. This paper is a report on the EC translation of an IMF working paper,as a financial text. The financial technical terms, long and difficult sentences, passive sentences and the entire text structure in the source text all reflect the professionalism, rigor and objectivity of a financial text.It has the corresponding translation practice value and research significance. Therefore, this paper aims to explore how to accurately translate financial technical terms, maximize the information of the original text with the natural and fluent sentences, ensure the unity of the translation, and thus realize the reproduction of the academic value of the original words and sentences. This paper makes clear the expression of financial terms in different contexts by referring to parallel texts.Meanwhile, under the direction of Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory, this paper applies four translation methods, namely, conversion of parts of speech, syntactic linearity, restructuring, and shift of voice to discuss the translation of financial texts and to complete information equivalence from three aspects: word, syntax and text. The expression conforming to the target language habit is used to convey the information to the target readers,so as to reach the purpose of communication.Through this translation practice, this paper aims to explore a new translation direction for financial texts,to promote the effective dissemination of such texts, and to provide certain reference value for the future translation of the similar texts.
