This practice report is written on the basis of an E-C consecutive interpreting simulation of American former President Obama's speech at Taylor's University,Malaysia. The speech, which has approximately five hundred young leaders from ASEAN as its audience, covers various topics, rich political vocabularies as well as different dialogues.Through the analysis of the simulated interpreting, the author summarizes the problems in the process of interpreting and proposes their countermeasures. The problem with analytical listening is the prominent problem that the author encountered in the interpretation task.Firstly, the report makes a description of the task from two aspects: the task background and the speaker's speech style. Then the report introduces the interpreting process, including pre-interpreting preparation and post-task summary.Based on these, the report analyzes interpreting analytical listening problem in depth, which resulted from the Pakistan English accent and other extra-linguistic factors. Finally, under the guidance of Gile's Effort Model theory, the report proposes a few solutions to the problems. The analysis on the analytical listening problems during the interpreting process and the proposed solutions has practical significance. The author hopes this report is helpful for the later interpreters in terms of analytical listening study and the future interpreting practice.
