A Practice Report On Simulated Si Of Obama's Speech On Campaigning For Candidate In VA

Thanks to the characteristics of "continuity" and "immediacy",simultaneous interpreting(SI)greatly shortens the duration of the conferences where multilingual communications are needed.Thus it has also become the preferred form of interpreting service for many international conferences.In recent years,with the rapid development of China's politics and economy as well as the nation's ever-increasing close contacts with other countries on the world stage,the study of simultaneous interpretation as well as cases analysis have been paid much more attention by the academia.This report is a simulated SI practice on basis of pre-president Obama's speech on campaigning for candidate,and the summary and reflection of each aspects of the practice such as pre-interpretation preparation,on-site performance and the audience feedback,are given by the author,who makes an analysis of interpretation strategies and provides solutions for the difficulties encountered in practice.By means of the simulated practice,the author tries to solve some problems that novice interpreter may encounter: How to direct your effort coordination;How to deal with psychological pressure of SI on site;How to overcome the sputter resulted from nervousness during the SI practice.This report consists of four parts.The first chapter offers a brief introduction to the simultaneous interpretation,touching on the description of background and the requirement of this interpretation practice.In the second chapter,the author gives a description of the interpreting process,focusing on pre-interpretation preparation of some materials relating to the speech,mental state preparation,self-evaluation and the analysis of feedback from the audience.The third chapter,as a core part of the practice report,is the study of the interpreting strategies adopted in the form of case analysis,which involves the difficulties countered during the SI process.The fourth chapter is the focus of problem solving.In the conclusion,reflections of this practice as well as the practical significance and the limitation of this activity are presented.
