With the rapid development and the widespread application of network technology, political, military, economic, social and other fields depend increasingly on the network, and human society has already stepped into the era of cyberspace.Network has brought about lots of conveniences to human beings. At the same time, cyber warfare, network attacks, network theft, cybercrime and cyber terrorism are emerging constantly, which poses serious challenges to national security.Network security has become a common challenge for human beings in the information age.Network security has been highlighted as a national strategy by countries in the world, and China has no exception. The Central Leading Group for Cyberspace Affairs in China was set up on February 27,2014,which marked that China has officially promoted the network security as the national security. It has become a top priority to strengthen network security. In recent years, the network security construction has achieved obvious progress in the European Union and the network security strategy has formed scientific layout. Therefore,it has a good reference for building China's network security system to translate English texts about network security. The translation report mainly consists of two parts. The first part is a translation practice with about 22,000 English words. The source text is selected from Cybersecurity in the European Union:Resilience and Adaptability in Governance Policy, written by George Christou. This book elaborates the European Union's evolving cybersecurity policies and strategy and argues that while progress has been made, much remains to be done to ensure a secure and resilient cyberspace in the future. The second part is a translation report on this translation practice which consists of five chapters.Chapter one is the report's project introduction including background, significance, and theoretical guidance of the translation project and structure of the translation report.Chapter two provides an introduction including an introduction of the author, content and language style of the source text.Chapter three aims at describing the translation process, including pre-translation preparation,while-translation and proofreading.Chapter four,as the key part in the report, combined with specific cases, discusses difficulties in the translation process and presents corresponding translation methods. In the English-Chinese translation practice, based on Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory, the translator adopts different translation methods such as conversion, amplification, synchronization, inversion and division,to achieve the functional equivalence between the source text and the target text.Chapter five gives a summary of the translation.Through this translation practice, the translator has acquired more information about cyber security in the European Union, accumulated some translation experiences and improved the translation proficiency. What's more, the translation version can provide some information in network security, which not only makes readers know more about the construction of the EU's network security system and enhances their network security awareness, but also provides a reference for studying EU's network security and building China's security system.
