Film is an important way to transmit modern culture.Script,as the film's core and soul,carries profound social and cultural implications.As two different art forms,drama and film have their own artistic features respectively.However,these two different art forms,when transformed by cross-media,can make the same prototype of story produce different artistic effect according to their own artistic features.In recent years,drama IP became the boom of film adaption.Based on this phenomenon,this paper will take Taiwan Performance Workshop and Mahua FunAge,two contemporary stage troupes who have good public praise and audience foundation,as examples to analyze the artistic issues of contemporary domestic film adaption of drama.Performance Workshop,a famous stage troupe in Taiwan with its own unique creation method and performance concept,has formed a work style and performance characteristics with bold creation forms,varied styles and abundant ideas after more than 30 years of development.On the way of developing drama art,it pursues the artistic attempt of film adaption,and its initial adaption work,Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land,becomes a classic in the film history.Mahua FunAge became known to the public as a concept of New Year Stage Play in 2003,and has launched more than 20 stage plays with independent intellectual property rights in succession.Concentrating on film adaption of drama and being supported by original stage plays,Mahua FunAge made a wave of film adaption of drama in recent years at the pace of launching 3 IP films in 2 years,and gained business success and substantial revenues in drama box office.Drama reflects its artistic characteristics in creation method,performance characteristics and forms,that is,telepresence,communication and symbolism.And film embodies the second artistic creation of drama's language,performance method,tableaux,music effect and plot process.This paper argues that they reflect cross-media transformation from drama to film and novel aesthetic characteristics of second creation,and are the ontological motivation for the audience to formdistinctive aesthetic experience about these two kinds of art forms: namely,the performance bearing narrative,the balance between the sense of drama and stage brought by the mixed presentation of stage and lens,the deconstruction and reconstruction of the narrative montage language,the emotional transformation between the audience and performers.Also,this paper summarizes the art creation attitude and existing blind adaption problems under the current boom of film adaption of drama: first,there should be accurate art positioning,focusing on the communication bridge between drama and film;second,fatal technical problems should be avoided during the film adaption of drama,letting the real film technique be creative enough;third,the concept must be realized that drama IP is not a panacea to gain box office revenues and film adaption of drama cannot be the shortcut of winning business profits.
