This translation report is based on the translation of the novel The Spare Room(Chapter Five to Chapter Seven)from English to Chinese.The novel is written by the Australian writer Helen Garner.This part mainly describes the entanglement of love and hate between two old women Nicola and Helen during the aging and death process.Nicola is unwilling to face the death,and insists to fight against death by all kinds of treatments,but her friend Helen just wants to help her set up a correct attitude toward death and accept the reality that she's going to die.Therefore,the two intimate friends start a debate on belief.This translation report studies the English-Chinese translation strategies from two aspects including translation of dialogues and translation of descriptive sentences.In terms of content style,the translator needs to have various literacy and to be good at methods and skills of translation.The translator sincerely hopes that this report offers some references for further study.
