The community of rebellious officials,which has been castigated all the time by the rulers,but on the other hand,never genuinely eliminatedin whichever dynasty,is of special status and significanceas a very peculiar phenomenon in Chinese feudal culture for thousands of years.Biographies of Rebellious officials,as part of the History of the Qing Dynasty,edited in the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty,recorded a great many rebellion officials emerging in early Qing Dynasty.This is a valuable edition in the sense of research,for these recorded rebellious officials lived in the particular historical times of the late Ming and the early Qing Dynasty,an age embodying national rebellion and alternation in dynasty.From the perspective of philology,the article integrates its historical background to elaborate the origins and characteristics of the book,and makes an intuitive and comprehensive study on the communityby analyzing the classified biographees with statistical tables.The article intends to summarize the universality and diversity of the community with horizontal and vertical comparisons,to reveal the social and national conflicts of the time and the lingering influence of the old dynasty of Ming by reviewing the community itself and people's attitudes toward it,and to demonstrate the national concepts in differing the Han ethnicsand the minorities,as well asthe cultural legacy of advocating ethics and morality.
