Dowry is an important goods for ancient Chinese women to marry.In ancient Chinese society,As women didn't have direct family property inheritance rights,the dowry became the main property that they can master independently.As women whose in the ancient society were came from different social status,so that their dowry were from different sourse and type.They are used for a variety of the occasions.The social role of ancient women has been changed.So the dowry of all and use of the situation is different,which largely affected their life in different stages of life and the atmosphere of the event.When women get the dowry,they will be used for their daily lives,support their husbands' career,support their parents-in-law,leave to their children,and help their families,even involving investing in business and charity.The number of women`s dowry,even affect their family status,as well as the expansion of the living space.Dowry is an important part of the ancient Chinese women's life,they are of great significance and value.Dowry appeared early in ancient Chinese marriage customs.In Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty,people paid attention to dowry at the wedding.In Ming Dynasty,the concept of noticing wealth in a marriage was retained,by corresponding,the women in Ming Dynasty still pay attention to marry dowry.Ming Dynasty is an important period of transition in Chinese history,and the origin and type of female dowry,especially the characteristics of the times,and all the use and use of the dowry have changed with the development of history.With the development of economy,culture and customs in Ming Dynasty,the way and scope of consumption of women in Ming Dynasty were more and more extensive,which also affected the scope of the activities of women in the Ming Dynasty.In the middle and late Ming Dynasty,with the social atmosphere changing,thick dowry generally popular in the community,by corresponding,also led to "drowning girl" and other social problems.And the upper rulers and civil people are aware of the seriousness of the problem,trying to correct.But in the end,they can not resist the development of the atmosphere of thick dowry.This marriage custom lasted until the Qing dynasty.
