A Study On The Relationship Among College Students' Perfectionism, Academic Self-efficacy And School Engagement

This study regards college students as the research object is to explore the development characteristics of perfectionism,academic self-efficacy and school engagement,reveals the school engagement's operation mechanism,at the same time,discuss the relationship between perfectionism,academic self-efficacy and school engagement by empirical research.This study selects 261 college students from Jilin University,Hulunbuir University,Dalian Maritime University and The National Police University for Criminal Justice as subjects,using almost perfectionism scale for Chinese version,college students' academic self-efficacy questionnaire and college students' learning questionnaire for investigation and study,using descriptive statistics,factor analysis of variance,correlation analysis,regression analysis and structural equation model to analysis the relationship between college students' perfectionism,academic self-efficacy and school engagement.The conclusion are shown as follows:1.College students' perfectionism,academic self-efficacy and school engagement shows no significant differences in different gender,grade,major and native place.2.The perfectionism and its dimensions of college students has significant positive correlation with school engagement.Academic self-efficacy and its dimensions has significant positive correlation with school engagement.3.Positive perfectionism has positive predictive effect on school engagement.Negative perfectionism has positive predictive effect on school engagement.Academic self-efficacy has positive predictive effect on school engagement.4.The academic self-efficacy completely has mediating effect on positive perfectionism to school engagement.Negative perfectionism-academic self-efficacyschool engagement has no mediating effect.Based on the conclusion of above empirical study we can find that the level of school engagement of China's college student is not high.The students with perfectpersonality generally has high level of school engagement.All of this suggest that we should pay more attention on the positive aspect of perfectionism,educate and guide students to improve self requirement,stimulate their enterprising spirit.Improve academic self-efficacy also helps to increase school engagement,and the academic self-efficacy completely has mediating effect on positive perfectionism to school engagement.This conclusion suggests us that cognitive factors is important to develop school engagement.Therefore we need to attache great importance to the cultivation of college students' learning confidence and belief,improving the cognition to the learning,so as to improve school engagement.
