A Research On The Typology Of The Contemporary Historical Themes Dance Creation(1919-2014)

Chinese historical dance has passed nearly a century since “Celestial Beauty Scattering Flowers”,a famous Peking Opera created by Mei Lanfang in 1920.Historical dance is a kind of art which expresses historical materials by means of the dancers' body actions.Historical dance,which lacks theoretical support,is a marginal art form.The development of historical dance keeps unbalanced in practice and in theory.Therefore,this present study aims to focus on the types of historical dance in respect of typology,and to research the process of formation.Development and evolution of historical dance.The author believes that the study can give some enlightenment to the future research.It is discovered that the creation of historical dance is determined by politics,and that its dance vocabulary and structure are also altered by some political and economic factors as well as by the development of dance vocabulary itself.The present study is conducted to research the type and development of historical dance.Nearly 100 pieces of dance are chosen as the objects.This paper is divided into three parts: the first part focuses on the features of different historical dance,by means of parallel comparison;the second part mainly discusses types of historical dance in different historical period,analyzes the reason and the law of its changing,and also discusses the material,the vocabulary and the structure of dance.The third part is the conclusion,in which the author summarizes the features of different types of historical dance and the development of historical dance.
