| The report is based on the translation of A Separate Peace written by American writer John Knowles.It mainly describes the youth campus story of a pair of adolescent friend named Gene and Finny.This reports includes three major parts---introduction,case analysis and conclusion.The introduction involves the recommendation of writer,text content and text structure.Case analysis involves vocabulary translation,sentence translation,idiom translation and dialogue translation.Vocabulary translation involves noun translation,verb translation,qualitative adjective translation,manner adverb translation.The translator adopts domesticating translation method and free translation to make the equity between Chinese and English.Sentence translation involves compound composite sentence and passive short verses.The translator adopts division and voice transfer to make the translation smooth.Idiom translation can be divided into folk translation and vulgarity translation.The translator adopts free translationand domesticating translation to accord with the reading habits of readers in target language.In the dialogue translation aspects,the translator adopts extended sense and additional translation to make the dialogue vivid and to accord with the character.It is hoped that the translator can improve personal translation level and be helpful for such translation activities. |
