Psychological counseling work is a professional work to help people and psychological counselor is the main body of this work.Counselor's own personality is one of the important factors in psychological counseling,but in the actual consulting work,psychological counselors would pay more attention to the theory and technology of psychological counseling,they usually overlooked the personality of themselves.However,the personality of the consultants will be related to the process and the results of the consultation.Core self-evaluation is a new personality research in recent years.It refers to the most basic evaluation and estimation of individual's own value and ability,which is an overall and potential personality structure.Studies have shown that core self-evaluation has an important effect on job performance and job satisfaction.Therefore,from the perspective core self-evaluation which is a new personality research orientation,this study sets out to construct a preeminent psychological counselors core self-evaluation model in order to explore the impact of psychological counselors core self-evaluation on counseling by using behavioral event interviews.In this study,psychological counselor was chosen as the research objects,it aims to construct the core self-evaluation model of preeminent psychological counselors by interviewing 20 psychological counselors.Behavioral Interviews is a retrospective,open-minded behavioral observation technique that allows researchers to review the key 4-6work events(half successful events and half failed events)in their careers so as to obtain research data.At last,through the analysis of the interview data,coding,statistical testing,the author could construct a preeminent psychological counselors core self-evaluation model.Finally,the conclusion of this study are:First,the core self-evaluation model of preeminent psychological counselors constructed in this study includes four categories,a total of 14 core self-evaluation characteristics:Kindness: compassionAbility: achievement motivation,professional self-confidence,insight,order,sense of responsibility,reflection;Emotionality: patience,peace;Interpersonal relationship: sincere,warmth,enthusiasm,inclusive,understanding.Second,the model of preeminent psychological counselor core self-evaluation have a significant reliability,CA = 80.09%Thirdly,there are significant differences in the total frequency of the core self-evaluation traits between the excellent performance group and the general performance group and the former is higher than the later which indicates that the excellent performance group will show more core self-evaluation characteristics in the consultation.Fourthly,there are no significant differences between the excellent performance group and the general performance group in the interview time of the behavioral events and the number of words received from the interview.This indicates that the length of the interview will not affect the difference of the core self-evaluation between the excellent performance group and the general performance group.Fifthly,compared with the core self-evaluation theory proposed by Gan Yiqun,the core self-evaluation model of the preeminent psychological counselors constructed in this study has two dimensions(respectively kindness and ability)which are similar to the former.In addition,there are two dimensions that are unique to the psychological counselors,namely emotionality and interpersonal relationship,which shows the uniqueness of the counselors.Compared with ordinary people,psychological counselors are better at regulating their emotions,and the ability to establish relations with others is also better than the former ones.
