Network psychological counseling is a huge market and the just starting industry.Currently, the domestic study of network psychological counseling is still in itsinfancy.This research was designed to explore and construct the network psychologicalcounselor’s competency model. The competency model can provide a theoreticalbasis for the screening and training of the network counselors to promote the processof professionalization of the network of psychological counseling.This study used a qualitative research and quantitative research methods as theway to build a competency model of the network counselors. First retrieve and collatethe literature from home and abroad, sort out and analysis the literature to obtain thegeneral competency of psychological counselors and network of psychologicalcounselors. On this basis, using the Behavioral Event Interview (BEI) to interview24network counselors of a large psychological counseling website in China.Accordingto the “integrated and hard indicators”, two sets of network counselors as blue-chipgroup of12people, the ordinary group of12people were selected from the525psychological website (www.psy525.cn).Then conduct the behavioral event interview,the interview materials was coding by two coders and then formed a codingvocabulary. In order to construct the network psychological counselors CompetencyModel, we test the average grade scores of the blue-chip group and the ordinary group.Finally, we test the reliability and validity of the network counselors CompetencyModel. In this study, we obtain the following conclusions:(1)There are no significant differences of the interview length and interview timeof the blue-chip group and ordinary group.(2)Through the correlation analysis among the highest grade of scores、theaverage grade scores and frequency,we find the average grade score is a relativelyand more stable indicator. (3)The total frequencies of competency between the blue-chip group and theordinary group have a significant difference.(4)The Category Agreement of this study is CA=81.75%, indicating that thisstudy has good reliability.(5)The network psychological counselor’s competency model consist ofknowledge, language skills, influence, empathy, analytical thought, Self-regulatorycapacity, helpful, career interests, self-confidence and openness.(6)Matched with the Spencer Competency Model, we found that, the competencymodel of network psychological counselors has seven competencies in common, andfour characteristic competencies, such as language skills, helpful, openness, careerinterests.
