Online revolution,thesixth chapter of College(Un)bound:The Future of Higher Education and What It Means for Students writtenbyJeffrey J.Selingo,a professional researcher for the higher education in America,is chosen as the source text of the translation project.The source text particularly discusses somenew online education models such as MOOC,which are designed by some professors from famous universities,combining education with science and technology.In an era of information-based society,the online education brings many new thoughts as well as quite a few dissenting opinions.Even though it will pose a great challenge to the traditional higher education.These new models,to a large extent,reflects the weakness of modern higher education,but on the other hand,these educators who study higher education in both America and China can learn something from the reforms.The author of the reporttakes the functional Skopos theory as the guiding theory,after the analysis of the original linguistic features,under the guidance of the three core rules of Skopos theory,illustrating translation techniques such as omission,amplification,restructuring andshift to solve the difficulties suchas proper nouns like educational terms and difficult sentences with attributive clauses or passive voice.At last,the translator summarizes the lessons and points outthe problems to be solved.
