Translation Report On The First Part Of World Bank Development Report: Digital Dividends

This is a translation project whose source text is selected from the first part of the report published by World Bank in 2016,World Bank Development Report: Digital Dividends.It mainly demonstrates a new concept,digital dividend,from the perspective of the development of global internet.Through the data investigation,it brings the divergence of internet development globally to light.The imbalance of economic outcome of internet also delivers the result internationally.This project will employ conversion,inversion and division to address the difficulty during the translation to achieve the equivalence between source language and target language under the guidance of linguistic theory of translation.This project is divided into four chapters.First chapter launches an introduction of the project ground and makes a overall depiction of its significance.Second chapter introduces the preparation before starting translation project and has an analysis on the source text detailing its stylistic and linguistic features,then predicts the difficulties within the process.Third chapter lays down the theory foundation,typically the introduction of translation shift theory proposed by Catford and the categorization of new concepts.Based on the analysis of source text and target text,examples are shown the guidance of translation shift to translation practice.Lastly,it cones up with the translation strategies for translator to follow.Chapter four concludes the translation experience and points out the default within it.
