This is a translation report and the translation project is taken from the book, Translation in the Digital Age(Chapter 4), a social science monograph written by Michael Cronin, a professor of translation studies. Starting with people’s confusion about the digital wave, in the book, the author reviews the connotation, role and status of translation in the digital age and analyses the influence of translation transformation on society, culture and politics. Chapter 4 is mainly about the impacts and effects of digital technology on translation practice. With its unique theoretical opinion, the digital revolution in translation industry has been interpreted and many new subjects on translation studies have also been put forward. The translation of the book is not only helpful for scholars to have a better reasonable understanding of the contemporary translation phenomena, but also has a significant enlightening meaning in carrying out related research studies. The source text of the translation report is an informative text. With features of authenticity, accuracy and objectivity, informative text aims to faithfully deliver the content of the source text to the audience. Therefore, under the guidance of Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence, the translator adopts translation methods(like literal translation and free translation) and translation skills(transliteration with annotation, diversion, conversion and omission) to deal with the translation of proper nouns and long English sentences while translating, aiming at realizing the semantic, cultural and stylistic equivalence in the conversion between the source text and the target text.
