This is a translation project report on Think Simple: How Smart Leaders Defeat Complexity by Ken Segall,of which Chapter 7 Simplicity Is Sleeker is the source text.The chapter mainly tells readers some amazing approaches and principles of simplicity through vivid examples in business.The main contents of this report are divided into five parts: Part One is the translation project description,including the project background and significance.Part Two is the analysis of the source text,including a brief introduction to the author,main contents and linguistic features of the source text.Part Three is about a detailed description of Newmark's communicative translation theory and its direction to this translation project.Part Four points out the difficulties encountered in the translation and corresponding solutions.There are three translation difficulties including the translation of proper names,polysemy and dash structures.In attempt to deal with these problems,the translator makes efforts with various translation methods and skills such as transliteration,liberal translation,zero translation and conversion.Part Five concludes with the lessons,implication and unsolved problems in the translation project.It is hoped that this report can summarize the skills of the informative text translation and provide a reference for the study in future.Also it is hoped that this report can make the readers realize the power of simplicity and improve themselves.
