A Report On The English-Chinese Translation Of Greg Lake:Lucky Man(Excerpt) From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation

Biography is a kind of common literary genre,which reproduces the life experiences and deeds of the protagonists.And it is very influential for readers.With the development of economic and cultural globalization,the translation of biographies of famous people in the west is playing an increasingly important role in cultural exchange between China and foreign countries.Therefore,the author chooses this biographical text Greg Lake: Lucky Man as source text in translation practice.This English-Chinese translation report is based on the first and second chapters of biography Greg Lake: Lucky Man.It introduces the basic information related to source text and gives a brief analysis of its linguistic characteristics.The report is divided into four parts.The first part is mainly the description and requirements of the translating task.The second part describes the translation process.The third part is the core part which analyzes strategies,methods of biography translation like conversion,amplification,restructuring etc.with examples and describes the communicative translation's application in biography translation.The forth part is the conclusion.Through this translation practice,the author is deeply aware that profound language skills and the ability to apply theoretical knowledge appropriately are very essential for a good translator.In addition,the author has formed a more explicit understanding of the language features and translation techniques of biographical text.
