Practice Report On Simulated Consecutive Interpretation Of Remarks By President Barack Obamaat Town Hall Meeting With Chinese Youth

Nowadays,as the process of globalization is constantly accelerating,the communications between countries are taking place more frequently.Under these circumstances,our country's reform and opening-up process are both being strengthened.And interpreting industry and interpreters are becoming increasingly significant Interpretation plays a role of a bridge among people who speak different languages so that they will communicate with one another effectively.Without interpretation and interpreters,political,economic and cultural exchanges between various regions and countries all over the world would cease to exist.However,interpreting involves complex skills,and interpreting tasks are normally tough?To ensure the quality of interpretation,the interpreter must be equipped with solid bilingual skills and other kinds of relevant interpretation knowledge.Interpreting requires an excellent short-term memory ability,but short-term memory can only last a very short time,and can be very easily forgotten.Therefore interpreters need note-taking to help themselves write down information as much as possible.In consecutive interpreting,the importance of note-taking is more prominent.As an indispensable tool of short-term memory,note-taking can help interpreters clarify the structure of the source language,analyze information,reduce the burden of memory,and make the target language more accurate.The complexity of note-taking and the importance of interpreting method caused the author of the thesis to analyze the problem of note-taking in consecutive interpretation.This thesis is based on Remarks made by President Barack Obama during his meeting with with future Chinese leaders at Town Hall.By making use of case studies analysis,it summarizes and analyzes the note-taking problems in the practice of interpreting.Through this interpreting practice,the author gains a more objective understanding of interpreting and note-taking,which will not only have a great impact on the author's interpreting practices,but also give some feasible suggestions on interpreting skills and methods to other interpreters.
