Research On Teaching Anxiety Of Novice International Chinese Teachers

With the development of education,teacher problems,one of "three problems about education" has been paid more and more attention by educational circles.The quality of teachers determines the quality of education.As an important part of teachers'comprehensive quality,teachers' psychological quality especially raise the researchers'attention.Psychological research shows that teachers will cause a series of untoward effect.The study on the anxiety of teachers in junior high school and even in the university stage has made some achievements.What's more,the study on the anxiety of teachers of Chinese as a foreign language has gradually improved,and the research on the anxiety of the new Chinese teachers is almost zero.Under this background,this paper focuses on the study of novice international Chinese teacher teaching anxiety,in reference to the East China Normal University Zhang Wei(2012)"teaching Chinese as a new teacher teaching anxiety" in the "Chinese new teachers teaching anxiety questionnaire" basis on the revision of the "novice international Chinese teacher teaching anxiety questionnaire".Two(pre-test and post-test)questionnaires were issued and collected aimed at 41 novice International Chinese teachers from Beijing Foreign Studies University,and the questionnaire results were quantitatively analyzed using the social statistics software SPSS19.0.The questionnaire is divided into nine dimensions,namely:student evaluation,classroom questioning,teaching effect,classroom atmosphere and order,school evaluation,lesson preparation anxiety,classroom performance,pre-class anxiety,cross-cultural communication.This paper also discusses the reasons,the influence and the method of overcoming the anxiety of the novice international Chinese teachers by referring to the qualitative research methods such as interview,view teaching logs.This study attempts to answer the following questions:First,how can the overall level of anxiety and anxiety of the international Chinese teachers be changed?Is there a significant change?What is the reason?Second,what are the dimensions of the novice international Chinese teacher's anxiety?How to change?Is there a significant change?What is the reason?Third,the novice international Chinese teacher anxiety which specific factors have changed?Has the change been significant?Did the main factors leading to teacher anxiety change?What is the reason?We found that the overall level of teaching anxiety among novice international Chinese teachers was reduced during the last half of the survey period,but the reduction was not significant.The reasons include the factors that lead to anxiety in the pre-test still exist in post-test,or the factors in pre-test that lead to anxiety were resolved,and new problems occur between pre-test and pro-test period.Nine dimensions of the pre-test and post-test anxiety levels have not significant changes,which corresponds with overall level of anxiety changes,for which we interviewed a number of subjects.It is concluded that the anxiety of novice international Chinese teachers is characterized by persistence,repetition,uncertainty and complexity.It is precisely because of the above characteristics of anxiety,coupled with the novice teachers ignore the psychological self-adjustment,the lack of effective guidance,which led to the General anxiety level and anxiety levels of each dimension remains high.From the point of view of individual factors of anxiety,only two factors that lead to anxiety are significantly reduced,and the highest anxiety values of the pre-test and post-test does not change greatly.On the whole,the pre-test and post-test commonness is greater than the difference,on the one hand,it indicate that teachers in foreign psychological situation has been relatively stable,anxiety level did not occur significantly fluctuations,on the other hand also shows that the anxiety of the teachers abroad has not been eased in time,problems that cause anxiety are not solved in time.To this end,we put forward a few suggestions to solve the anxiety of the international Chinese teachers,first of all,to correctly understand the anxiety is a mental state that must be confronted during teaching,work even our whole life.We must Discover and catch anxiety in time,learn to adjust their own psychology,strengthen professional accomplishment and skills accumulation,continue to learn from experienced teachers,maintain harmonious interpersonal relationships,and secondly,we hope that the college can be in the teacher internship period to open the corresponding Psychological counseling and psychological courses,through the "remote assistance" to help novice international Chinese teachers in a timely manner to find a timely solution to the factors that lead to anxiety.The establishment of anxiety case library to help the new novice Chinese teachers who will teach Chinese abroad to do a good job of psychological construction work.
