Shanghai Normal University Master Of Philosophy Abstract | | Posted on:2018-09-24 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:P Huang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2335330515981581 | Subject:Development and educational psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Social support is the individual get material and spiritual support through their social relationships.It can reduce mental stress and improve the level of social adaptation.Parental self-efficacy is the belief that parents have the ability to take on the role of their parents and have a positive impact on children’s behavior and development.Social adaptation is the ability that an individual is expected to deal with daily life and shoulder social responsibility according to age and cultural standard.Family environment has a significant impact on children’s social development.Social adaptation is an important standard to measure children’s social development and physical and mental health.Self-efficacy is an important cognitive variable for the development of children’s social adaptation.Parents perceive the higher level of social support,their self-efficacy is stronger,their children’s social adaptive ability may be better.Most researches study the relationships of social support and parental self-efficacy,social support and social adaption,parental self-efficacy and social adaption.But the social support is how to influence children’s social adaptation,whether parental self-efficacy play a mediating role.The issues are hardly studied especially in the intellectual disability.The study selected 302 children with intellectual disability,It used social support scale,parental self-efficacy and social adaptation scale to measure the characteristics of social support,parental self-efficacy and social adaptation of children with mental retardation,and to further explore the relationships of parental social support,parental self-efficacy and social adaptation of children with mental retardation.The conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)Parental social support has significant differences on parental age and education.Parents under the age of 35 and above the age of 46 got higher scores on friend support and total social support than parents the age of 36-45.Parents with junior high school education got higher scores on family support and total social support than above college education.(2)Parental self-efficacy has significant differences on parental age and family structure.With the increase of the age of parents,the parents’ self-efficacy also improve.Parental self-efficacy in the family of two generation and three generation is significantly higher than divorced family.(3)Social adaptation of children with mental retardation has significant differences on education.The higher education parents are,the better the children’s perception development,interpersonal relationship and social responsibility are.(4)Social adaptation of children with mental retardation has significant differences on family structure.Movement development of children in the two generation family are better than children in the three generation family.Social responsibility of children in the two generation family are better than children in the divorced family.(5)Social adaptation of children with mental retardation has significant differences on caregiver.If the caregivers are parents,their children’s social adaptation are better than the caregivers are grandparents.(6)Parental social support has positive relationship with parental self-efficacy.Parental social support has positive relationship with social adaptation of children with mental retardation.Parental self-efficacy has positive relationship with social adaptation of children with mental retardation.(7)Parental self-efficacy has a mediating role in the relationship between parental social support and social adaptation of children with mental retardation.The mediating effect is about 36%. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Children with mental retardation, Parental social support, Parental self-efficacy, Social adaptation | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
