A Practice Report On Prospectus Translation Of The China Dairy Corporation Limited

Prospectus is a normative document which can produce the condition of initiators and the company which will be found to the public,and tell matters concerned to equity issue,to guide purchases of the public.It is a disclosure document that describes a financial security for potential buyers.It commonly provides investors with material information about stocks,bonds and other investments,such as a description of the company’s business,financial statements,etc.The prospectus is to inform investors and the public of the real situation of the enterprise and its share distribution,and to expand business operations by raising funds.With the rapid development of the economy,more and more Chinese companies have sought to be listed.According to the listing rules of many countries,prospectus should be written in both English and Chinese.Therefore,it’s very important to translate prospectus professionally.From the perspective of the Skopos theory,this thesis,taking the E-C translation of the Prospectus of the China Dairy Corporation Limited as case study,explores how Skopos theory can be applied to the translation practice of the prospectus of the China Dairy Corporation Limited.Using the Skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule to solve difficulties in lexical,syntactical and textual level in translation.The author hopes this thesis can provide some useful references and help for the translation practice of prospectuses in the future.
