As the revolutionary classic of "seventeen years",The Song of Youth produced a great impact when it was published in 1958.Later,this novel was translated into more than twenty languages with the recommendation of international propaganda organization of China and spreaded to the capitalist countries in Europe and America,Eastern European socialist camp and countries in Asia and Africa and Latin America.The propagation track and acceptance state have formed with historical characteristics of special period.The research methods include quantitative research and document research.The author use OCLC,CiNii and JSTOR database to collect data and information and then find the process of writing,publishing,spread and acceptance of The Song of Youth.The paper divides into three chapters.Chapter One introduces the process of writing,publishing,rewriting and adapting of the novel.Mo Yang wanted to write a novel in memory of the heroes whom she met during the Anti-Japanese War.This novel was published and rewritten with twist and turns.It was adapted into film and drama and so on.There have been nine presses which published The Song of Youth till 2017.Chapter Two combs the overseas spreading track of The Song of Youth through the collection of translation and statistics.The Song of Youth is translated into 20 languages,including Europe and the United States developed capitalist countries,Eastern Europe socialist camp and countries in Asia and Africa and Latin America.By searching the OCLC database of WorldCat Online Union catalog,this chapter sorts the overseas collection situation of The Song of Youth,especially collections of the United States and Japan.To sum up,The Song of Youth spreads all over the world,and there are abundant collections in the United States and Japan.But the causes are different.The spread in United States mainly serves for overseas China scholars to study and understand the Chinese society,while in Japan,the book encourages Japanese people fight against the reactionary government and imperialism.Chapter Three researches the situation of overseas acceptance of The Song of Youth.Firstly,this chapter analyzes overseas scholars' ten articles which are retrieved from the JSTOR database.It can be seen from the articles that the research perspectives of The Song of Youth in the United States experiences changes from politics to art and from monotonous to multi perspective transformation.Secondly,in order to understand the situation of acceptance of The Song of Youth in twenty-first Century ordinary readers,this chapter searches Goodreads.The results are not abundant.The latest review time is March 23,2017,and most readers are from South Asian countries with the positive tone.
