This paper aims to conduct a survey of all the graduate students in the Graduate School of Translation and Interpreting of Beijing Foreign Studies University on their expectation on the role of interpreting teachers,intending to answer the question of what kinds of interpreting teachers those students want in their interpretation program,how to better help our teachers and GSTI meet students' expectation for an ideal teacher and improve their teaching quality.To that end,this paper presents an assessment including both questionnaire survey and open-ended interview under the guidance of social constructivism targeted at all the graduate students in GSTI,covering many factors they pay close attention to.In this process,this paper divides those students into groups respectively according to their genders,grades,types of master's degree and majors for bachelor's degree and analyzes the statistic datas respectively by using SPSS 19.0 and independent-sample T test.With qualitative and quantitative results,this paper aims to find out students' preference for interpreting teachers so as to put forward suggestions on our teachers' self-development,interpretation teaching programs in GSTI and other universities.
