The Stick-figure Styled Animation Design And Implementation

Animation styled in stick figures is applied to convey the significance of a work in depth with its unique concise and condensed forms.Its visual effects are enlightened by its succinct and animated direct viewing,and it thematically reveals the creator's profound thoughts and feelings in his work.It also implies a work's positive value and meaning.It is an artistic art form with distinct nature.This paper studies the design and realization of this art form by combining a creation based on it,namely,THE DREAM OF GROWING UP.The connotation and characteristics of this art form as well as its designing principles and approaches,process of implementation and the whole reasonable procedure will be discussed from different aspects,such as material collecting,structural and visual designing and technological implementation,etc.THE DREAM OF GROWING UP is a work that picks up the youth's growing process as the main subject,aiming at giving the audience the psychological experience of being motivated by a dream through using simplified but representative scenes and characters to portray the work's theme,i.e.Dreams are the compelling power for a man's growth and his striving effort to realize his life goal.During the process of the style design put to effect,this work employs means of digital drawing,and digital combination.Making the producing procedure based on Flash making,the work has also utilized some approaches from special effects in moving making,attempting to achieve the generality and abstractness in the aspect of presenting its animating character.In this way the nature and characteristics of an animation styled in stick figures is incarnated.Part of the production is the result of new ideas put in trial.The paper brings forward the definition and connotation of stick-figure-styled animation;and by analyzing the work presented in the art form,the paper aims at inducing certain innovation to further develop this unique art form.
