| Richard Shusterman, as a neo-new American pragmatist philosopher, plays a leading role in Pragmatism philosophy and aesthetics. He put forward a new project of Somaesthetics.There are many factors to account for Shusterman's Somaesthetics. On the one hand,personally, it's a logical and natural consequence of his theoretical arguments and his life experience. On the other hand, in terms of the outside context, it relates to the historical background of the body-discourse in western philosophy and aesthetics, and meanwhile,Somaesthetics is an appropriate response to the reality in the realm of philosophy.Somaesthetics pursues a sentient, living and feeling body, which essentially relies on body consciousness. Somatic practice is included in Somaesthetics, which is divided into three elementary branches: analytical somaesthetics, pragmatic somaethetics and practical somaesthetics. Somaesthtetics attaches much importance to the somatic practice and body training to improve body consciousness, especially the reflective body consciousness which is valuable in philosophy of mind,politics,art and aesthetics as well as daily life. Basing on the analysis, it is found that Shusterman's body consciousness possess three qualities: (a) acting as a bridge between body and mind,between theory and practice; (b) criticism in consumer society and new medium time; (c)a publicity in potential impact. |
